R1 Backup schedule review

November 4, 2012

r1soft_logo_200x91As always when we are thinking of making changes, we opt to ask for feedback so we base our changes on your requirements.

Currently we backup our cPanel servers on the hour every hour, but has its disadvantages when it come to restore points.

Currently we keep 120 restore points per server, so currently this means that you only have 5 days of restore points if something goes wrong. With the recent WordPress vulnerability that plagued all WordPress installs that were not kept up to date, and the fact that some customers didn’t realise that this had happened until weeks had passed R1 was of little use at this point.

We have decided to give you the option of a different schedule, and need your feedback by November 9th before we make the changes. Based on the popular feedback we will action accordingly. We will not be able to make different schedules per customer so its important to understand that the majority vote will affect everyone on the servers covered.

Based on the feedback poll we are now setting up all servers to backup every 6 hours and to keep 120 restore points. This will give you the option to restore from any 6 hourly point over the last 30 days.
